Computer freezes when downloading large files windows 10

I don't know what pulled it. It might have been Vista being Vista and possibly has nothing to do with the freezes at all, but who knows? I plan on replacing this computer within 5 months, but I also wanted to fix the problem with this one so I actually had two of my very own computers. CPU Stress test. Could be the slot itself Tx, but if it was the slot, with 2 sticks in, would it still see the working slot? I cannot run the memtest seeing as I have no CD's to put it on. So no, I did not run it.

I found three just now. I will have to get around to the memtest soon. Tx -- I have tried the 2GB stick in each yellow slot. Then I tried it in each yellow slot with both sticks of MB in the black ones.

Then I tried it without the 2GB stick in there at all. All three of these resulted in what usually happens, which is the freezing. Core usually runs below 20 celsius constantly I will have to check the temps when I am done with Burn In. How many tests do you think people should go for?

Test number Temps won't change. I'm closing it and getting some sleep. The temperatures will not get any higher than this. Burn In is causing my computer to lock up for about 5 seconds every 30 seconds or so. It also locks up for about a second every couple seconds or so. I have gotten up to Test number 52 and the temperatures aren't changing, so I guess it is safe to assume this isn't going to change much.

As for the RAM slots overheating I really doubt it. They are running colder than 25 celsius constantly. The only thing cooler is the Core, which is currently running at 12 celsius and drops to around 10 celsius every once in awhile. Not all cores need to be put under constant stress in order to make them freeze up. If it pulls more information in than it can send out, then it will eventually freeze.

That doesn't mean it is under stress. I am going to throw out this idea Maybe something in my computer isn't getting enough Voltage? I mean, it shows one core getting 1.

I can see why they are different voltages, but wouldn't that cause problems if they both were running and one expected the other to keep up or stay around the same speed? Or maybe the Voltage is plain out too low. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. It's easy! Already have an account? Sign in here. Torazo Posted October 18, Not sure if that would make a difference. I dont see the cooler being an issue. After all, its only cooling the CPU. Its only been a positive in lowering the temperature. What should I be looking for on my motherboard?

The only thing Ive done is ensured all connections are secure and there is no dust buildup. Should I be monitoring something when I attempt to download a game? Im planning on heading to the local Walmart to buy a USB drive to run a Memtest on the RAM today and will make sure to get that report back to you guys. Check this article [technet. This can also take a very long time. In my optinion it's unlikely that your mainboard, cpu or gpu is faulty. In the meantime you can use another pc or laptop to download doom and copy the files in your steam library, so you can at least download and play your games.

I even downloaded it the the pc of my girlfriend we have our pcs in the same room and are connected to the same router , and there the download worked perfectly and it runs nicely. I also tried copying all of the doom files of her pc to my pc - but doom ALWAYS fails to start up, stating something with "files corrupted".

I tried recopying files, but also to no avail. I also tried to fix this the Steam-way, i. It ran through, downloading at least a dozen GB of data and magically running through without crashing I get the impression that those doom game files are somehow extremely weird and prone to be corrupted or something.

I'm giving up on this issue and try to play doom on my girlfriend's pc when she is not using it. Also does this on smaller files too. The computer runs perfectly fine and explorer doesn't even crash. Any ideas?

It is not an uncommon issue that file transfer speed drops to zero in Windows It happens when you transfer files between two internal hard drives, between an internal and external hard drive, or over a network, etc. No matter which is your case, you can find the corresponding solution from the next part. When you encounter file transfer freezes in Windows 10, the first thing you can do is to pause and resume or cancel and restart the transfer process. Sometimes antivirus software can prevent certain files from being transferred.

In this case, you can disable antivirus software temporarily and enable it again after all files are transferred.
